Position Summary:

The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures with precision and professionalism. This role requires expertise in breast imaging, strong patient care skills, and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines. The technologist will collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate diagnoses and positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform digital screening and diagnostic mammography independently.
  • Ensure accurate positioning, exposure techniques, and image evaluation based on breast anatomy and pathology knowledge.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and federal regulations for mammography practices.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform quality control and assurance on imaging equipment.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Recognize emergency conditions and initiate lifesaving first aid when necessary.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT Certification in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M).
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association.
  • Minimum five (5) years of mammography experience.
  • Strong understanding of breast anatomy, pathology, and imaging techniques.
  • Proficiency in radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • EMR experience, preferably with Athena.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required.
