Sistercare is hiring a Rural Community and Court Advocate in Newberry, SC. In this role, you will help survivors of intimate partner violence move toward safety, stability, and hope. Sistercare is seeking a compassionate Rural Community and Court Advocate to provide trauma-informed advocacy, case management, and outreach for survivors of intimate partner violence in the Midlands.
What You’ll Do
- Assess survivors’ needs and provide trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management.
- Support clients during court hearings and help them understand legal terminology and procedures.
- Coordinate with attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement, DSS, and community partners.
- Connect survivors with housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, food, employment, and other resources.
- Conduct rural community outreach and maintain accurate client records and grant-related reports.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Direct service or case management experience and the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of intimate partner violence, court and law enforcement practices, and local resources is preferred.
Position Details
- Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt
- Location: Newberry, South Carolina (Onsite)
- Travel: Approximately 10–15%; reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record are required
